Mastopexy (lift without implants)

Breast reconstructive technique used in case of sagging breast wich lowers the inferior fold of the breast in each side.

This procedure is indicated for women whose breasts are, due to gravity, age, overweight, etc., in an abnormal position (sagging, asymmetrical, etc.). When, in addition to correcting the abnormal position of the breast, it is desired to increase its size, the procedure is combined with an augmentation mammoplasty, in which breast implants are placed.
Likewise, when a change in the position of the breasts occurs after an augmentation mammoplasty, the procedure may include breast pexy with or without replacement of the implants.

The procedure lasts approximately 2 to 4 hours and can be performed on an outpatient basis or with an overnight postoperative hospitalization. It is performed under general anesthesia.

As with breast reduction, there are several different techniques for breast pexy, with important differences in the extent and location of the incisions, depending on the degree of breast sagging.

Postoperative recommendations, recovery, wearing a bra, exercising, etc., are similar to those for augmentation mammoplasty. Depending on the technique used, there may or may not be difficulty with breastfeeding in a future pregnancy.

A certified plastic surgeon is the only specialist who has the knowledge, surgical training and experience necessary to perform this type of procedures under conditions of maximum safety for the patient.
